On October 9, 2025, I had the good fortune to meet Michael Blood, owner of Matraex—an app development company—and Boise Main Co-Working Space.
Driving to Boise Main Co-Working Space, a gray-and-brown building marked by a life-size “M” map pin next to the entrance, I accidentally missed my turn and ended up pulling into the business next door, then followed an alley that conveniently led to the parking lot from the back.
The lot is enclosed by brick walls decorated with colorful, playful murals. I parked next to what appeared to be Bigfoot—or is it Sasquatch? After making my way to the front entrance, I followed the visitor registration process I had completed online earlier. On the day of my visit, I received a text with step-by-step entry instructions. By scanning the QR code on the door with my smartphone, I initiated two-factor authentication: a code appeared in a pop-up window, and after entering it, a button appeared to “open” the door. One press, a light buzz, and I was in—easy peasy.
Inside, I was greeted by Michael himself—an average-height, slender man with a spring in his step and a genuinely welcoming demeanor. Small wall-mounted flat monitors displayed exterior security feeds. Nearby was an open kitchen area, perfect for taking a break and collecting your thoughts.
What may have once been a waiting room is now a professional open-table setup for short-term daily rentals. There are private team rooms with space for up to six people, each equipped with a dry-erase board and a closing door. Monthly members enjoy larger desks in an open workspace. For meetings, there’s also a dedicated room that fits six people comfortably, with a couple of extra chairs for overflow.
Spaces like this are ideal for entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, writers, bootstrap coders, visiting business professionals, or even non-profit boards. As someone who serves on a non-profit board myself, I could see meeting here with other members, using the space for solo writing, or even doing some Linux learning in a professional, distraction-free environment. Really, the only limit here is your imagination.
At the time of this post, a full-day pass is just $30—perfect for a “test drive” of the space. Current pricing for daily or monthly memberships and meeting rooms can be found on their website: https://boisemaincoworkingspace.com/.
All the best,
